Camping

The Troop Camping Committee is underway all the necessary training so we can go camping as a troop. We will prepare as a troop for the out-of-doors, and will soon get to experience camping!  It will be necessary for each girl to provide her own personal items when we camp.  Below is a suggested list of items each girl will need to have by GSUSA.

Clothing:
underwear
long pants (preferably jeans)
t-shirts*
long sleeved shirts*
sweatshirts*
long underwear
socks
bandanna*
sleepwear
sturdy closed toe shoes
hat
gloves
jacket
water repellent jacket, pants, and hat

Personal Hygiene Items:
biodegradable soap and shampoo
towel
washcloth/bandanna
toothbrush & toothpaste
comb and brush
pony-tail holders (hair must be pulled back and away from face)
deodorant
sunscreen
lip balm
insect repellent
prescription medication (must be administered by an adult)

Sleeping and Eating Gear:
sleeping bag or bedroll
duffel bag or backpack to hold all equipment
mess kit with mesh bag
reusable water bottle with hook or string
flashlight with extra batteries and bulb

Program Items:
compass
whistle
jackknife

Remember:  Bring only what is necessary and remind each girl that she will have to carry her own things when we camp.  If she can't carry it, it's not needed at camp!

Most items under Sleeping & Eating Gear and Program Items can be found at Wal-Mart and Academy for cheaper prices.

*In troop color only!  We will be voting on what color we would like to wear when we go camping.  This way, if we camp where there are many groups camping at the same time, our girls are easily spotted.  Also, in the unfortunate incident that a girl wanders from the group she can be easily located or she can locate the group wearing the same color she is.

UPDATE!
We voted as a troop for the color we will wear when we go camping.  The majority has ruled that we will wear PINK!
